Scallion Cream Cheese Bombs
This is the perfect New Years Day breakfast food.
Half my crowd is hungover and the other half is starving.
These little balls of filled dough taste like a everything bagel and you can eat it with your eyes closed.
Mix one eight ounce package of cream cheese with 4 finely chopped scallions.
Add 1/8 teaspoon of salt and 1/8 teaspoon black pepper.
Mix well and roll into 16 little balls
Freeze for at least one hour.
Divide one pound of pizza dough into 16 pieces and roll each out flat.
Place the frozen cream cheese in the center of each piece of dough and fold up to conceal the cream cheese
Place seam side down on a greased baking pan.
Beat one egg with one tablespoon water and set aside.
Mix one teaspoon each of onion flakes, garlic flakes, sesame seeds, poppy seeds and kosher salt.
Paint each ball with the egg wash and then dip in the herb mixture
Place back on the baking sheet
You can freeze these now and just take out how many you need or
Bake in a preheated 425 degree oven for 14 to 18 minutes till they are nice and light brown.
They may ooze some filling but thats more for the cook to eat.
These can be served at room temperature but are unbelievable right out of the oven.
Next time I am going to serve them with smoked salmon, cucumbers, onion, capers and arugula.
A big plate of scrambled eggs is a must.
You can even make them sweet and omit the topping and fill with strawberry cream cheese.
Serve with a big bowl of berries.
Good bye bagels.
