Sausage Sunday

Today the Patriots  and  Red Socks  are playing. No one is interested in a sit down dinner.

I am making my life easy, for once.

Sausage Sandwiches

Five pounds of Italian sausage

4 sliced onions

6 to 8 sliced red peppers

12 Bulkie rolls

1/2 pound of  sliced mozzarella cheese

1/2 pound of sliced american cheese

1/2 teaspoon of sugar

Grill the sausage. Use an  indirect heat so they do not burn.

Saute the onions  in two tablespoons of olive oil. Add 1/2 teaspoon of sugar just before the onions are crisp soft. Season with salt and pepper.

Take the onions out of the skillet.

Add three tablespoons of oil and the red peppers. Cook till just slightly soft. Season with salt and pepper.

Warm the rolls.

Cut them in half and place a slice of each cheese on the roll.

Put two sausages on each sandwich

Serve with hot sauce, mustard and ketchup.

A huge pasta salad with a vinegar base dressing or a caesar salad  is great.

Everyone thinks they are at the ball park.

Relax. Watch the game or go shopping.

Leave a tray of cookies and brownies on the table.
